Statecraft and Spirituality
Statecraft and spirituality form complementary forces, together forging just and sustainable governance. Statecraft offers structure, through law, administration, power, and policy,while spirituality imparts the inner compass of ethics, restraint, compassion, and truth.
Devoid of spirituality, statecraft turns mechanical, oppressive, or ego-bound. Bereft of statecraft, spirituality lingers as noble idealism, powerless to instill social order. United, they channel power through dharma, temper authority with humility, and direct governance toward universal welfare, beyond personal or partisan gain.
True leadership emerges when rulers wield not just strategy and force, but conscience, self-discipline, and duty to society and the cosmic moral order. In this sacred harmony, the state safeguards society's body, while spirituality nurtures its soul.
The king is a servant of God, and his duty is the welfare of his subjects. It is not proper for a king to ascend the throne in a disorderly or improper manner. Nor is it right for a king to maintain his family or self-interest through deceit or force. Instead, the king's duty is to consider himself as the servant of the Divine and to protect all his subjects with this mindset, governing with righteousness and devotion to the common good.
Statecraft and Spirituality
Governments should not engage in business, and religious organizations should refrain from commercial ventures.
When either strays from its core purpose, both risk losing credibility and the trust of the people.
The fundamental role of government is governance and public welfare, sustained through transparent taxation.
The mission of a religious organization is to offer spiritual guidance and nurture community well-being, upheld by voluntary donations and self-reliance.
Blurring these boundaries erodes ethics, undermines accountability, and compromises the original missions of both institutions.
This principle is echoed in the wisdom of ancient texts:
Governance (राजधर्म) is meant to uphold justice and dharma, not to earn profit.
Religion (धर्म) is for spiritual upliftment, not commerce.
These timeless insights remind us that when power and faith are commercialized, society loses its moral compass.
Knowledge Through Poetry (Especially in Sanskrit)
Poetry makes knowledge last. Verse is easy to remember and simple to transmit, even without writing. In the Sanskrit tradition, wisdom was preserved orally for centuries, carried faithfully through sound and memory. In Sanskrit especially, the power of sandhi allows sounds and meanings to unite within a single, flowing expression. Words do not stand isolated; they merge, resonate, and create a living current of meaning. Poetry enters the heart through rhythm and resonance. No script is required-the Sanskrit word itself, woven through sandhi, shines complete and self-contained. It can travel intact from one heart to another. Even in times of destruction, when manuscripts are lost and structures fall, poetry safeguards knowledge. Memory becomes the temple, sound becomes the scripture, and the living voice becomes the preserver of truth.
Thus, poetry is not merely ornamentation-it is a powerful vessel for holding, protecting, and disseminating knowledge across generations.

यः स्वात्मानं परमात्मनि योजयति स एव योगी।

यत्र राज्ये धर्माचार्यो भवति नृपदासः।
तद्राज्यं तं च नृपं कालः करोति ग्रासम्॥
धर्माचार्यः स्वतन्त्रः स्यात् नृपदासो न कर्हिचित्।
अन्यथा धर्मनाशाय भवत्येव न संशयः॥

शृणुत भक्तगणाः एतद् सनातन वचनम्।
स्वप्नः अनुभूतिश्च द्वयं अनिश्चितदर्शनम्।।

प्रामाणिके भवति द्वयं परमसुखप्रदम्॥

एवंलक्षणसम्पन्नः स एव पूर्णगुरुः परिकीर्तितः॥

गुरुर्ब्रह्मा गुरुः शंकरः गुरुर्देवो जगदीश्वरः।
गुरुः साक्षात् परं ब्रह्म तस्मै श्रीगुरवे नमः॥
सिद्धगुरोर्द्वौ गुणौ स्मृतौ -सिद्धिश्च ब्रह्मज्ञानम्।
ताभ्यां यः शिक्षयेत् शिष्यान् स एव श्रीगुरुः मतः॥

गुरुलक्षणम्
(मुक्तछन्दः )
न जन्मना न चाश्रमेण न वेषेण न कीर्त्या ।
न बाह्याभरणैर्गुरुत्वं न लोकोक्त्या प्रसिद्ध्या ॥
शास्त्रेषु निपुणो विद्वान् श्रुतिसारपरायणः ।
ब्रह्मणि दृढनिष्ठो यः स गुरुः कथ्यते तत्त्वदर्शिभिः ॥
ब्रह्मतत्त्वस्य साक्षात्कारी तत्त्वदर्शी महामतिः ।
अनुभूतस्वरूपज्ञः स विज्ञेयः सुदीधितिः ॥
दमशमसमायुक्तः शुद्धान्तःकरणो जितेन्द्रियः ।
लोभमानविहीनात्मा स ज्ञेयः संयमी मुनिः ॥
करुणासिन्धुः सर्वेषां भूतहिते सदा स्थितः ।
ब्रह्मण्येव स्थितप्रज्ञः शान्तचित्तो निरामयः ॥
विरक्तो विषयेष्वेव निर्ममो निरहङ्कृतिः ।
एवंलक्षणसम्पन्नः स गुरुः परिकीर्तितः ॥

निष्कामभावमहिमा।
निष्कामकर्म पापं नाशयति,
निष्कामधर्मः प्रभोर्मनसि जयति।
निष्कामस्य जीवने नैव बन्धनम्,
निष्कामभावः परमं तु साधनम्॥
स्वात्मतत्त्वन्यायः
(आत्मज्ञेयधर्मः)
न जनकल्याणार्थम् विना पूर्वजन्मप्रकाशनम्
निषिद्धं दृढधर्मेण दिव्यन्यायेन शाश्वतम्॥
स्वात्मतत्त्वविवेकः स्यात् कृतिः प्रत्येकस्यात्मनः।
स्वयमेव हि विज्ञेयं आत्मरूपं सनातनम्॥
ज्ञानि–अज्ञानि–धर्मः
अज्ञानिनः वचने तिष्ठति असत्यता।
ज्ञानिनः वचने तिष्ठति नित्यसत्यता॥
अज्ञानिनः सदा श्रेयः तिष्ठति मौनता।
ज्ञानिनः सदा श्रेयः तिष्ठति विनम्रता।
अज्ञानिनः कथने तिष्ठति उद्धतासत्यता।
असत्यकथने धर्मस्य भवति घोराशुद्धता।
तस्मात् सर्वदा वर्जनीया उद्धतासत्यता।
एतत् परमं सत्यम् सनातने उद्धृतम्॥
जीव-स्वभावः धर्मः।
शृणुत भक्तजनाः, एतत् सत्यं सनातनं वचनम्।
स्वभावदोषो जीवस्य महाऽहितकरश्च महाऽमङ्गलम्।
तस्य प्रतिकाराय जीवस्य स्वभावपरिवर्तनं प्रयोजनम्।
तस्मात् सत्सङ्गः सद्गुरुसङ्गश्च परमं प्रयोजनम्।
स्वभावपरिवर्तनं विना सर्वे कर्मधर्माः निष्फलाः।
एवं देवतासङ्गः सत्सङ्गश्च स्वभावदोषेण विफलाः।

आदर्शराजधर्मः
राजा भगवानस्य दासः, तस्य कार्यं प्रजानां हितसाधनम्।
न राज्ञः कर्तव्यं यथातथा प्रकारेण सिंहासने आरोहणम्।
न राज्ञः कर्तव्यं छलेन बलेन स्वजनपोषणं स्वहितसाधनम्।
राज्ञः कर्तव्यं स्वं भगवद्भृत्यं मन्यमानस्य प्रजानां पालनम्।

जीवनपाठक्रमः
ये नैव जानन्ति गतिगतिमिमां पूर्वजन्मोत्तरं भ्रान्तये,
जीवन्नेव यथालसं विचरते लोकस्य केवलपाठे॥
ये जन्मप्रलयक्रमं न विदिताः पूर्वापरं चान्वयान्,
मायामोहवशादिह प्रविशति नूनं जनो लौकिकः।
ये तत्त्वं पुनरागमान्मरणमार्गं चाधीत्य नित्यं बुधाः,
ते वर्तमानजीवने विवृणुते मार्गं परं शान्तये॥
ये तत्त्वं विदितं पुनर्जनिमरणं ज्ञात्वा भवन्ति प्राज्ञाः,
तेऽध्यायन्ति सदात्मविवेकविधयं निःश्रेयसस्यैव।
धर्मः स एव गुणान् प्रभवयति नृणां सर्वजीवनपाठः,
येनैव प्रविविक्तया परगतिर्लभ्यते सान्तरम्॥

The Discernment of Dreams
Dreams that proof and reason bless
Shine with light and truth confess.
When bright the mind’s perception grows,
Its hidden truth in radiance shows.
But lacking proof, they fade away
Mere shadows born of night and day.
So guard them well, and speak them not,
Lest falsehood spread and hearts be caught

The Validity of Dream and Experience
When vision shines with truth’s own ray,
And dream bears proof to light the way,
Then such a dream seems real and bright,
Its lived experience filled with sight.
But when no truth or proof is near,
Both fade like mists the clouds uprear;
Proclaim them not to wandering minds,
Let falsehood die where darkness blinds.

True Worship
For worship there is no time,
No need for bell or chant or chime;
God only sees devotion, not time-
A loving heart is truth sublime.
God does not see what you offer,
Nor judge the outer golden cover;
He only sees respect hidden in the wrapper,
The silent faith you gently offer.
No wealth nor grand display He sees,
No costly gifts or rituals please;
A humble heart bowed down in prayer
Brings the Lord to dwell and hear.
So worship not by hour or art,
But with a pure and faithful heart;
Where love and reverence shine in heart,
There begins true worship, devotion’s start.
ईश्वर-ईश्वरदूतसङ्गसन्निध्यम्।
अल्पायुषि जगद्यात्रायां,मित्रं कश्चिद् भवेद् नरः।
अन्ये दीपशिखावत् स्युः,क्षणेनैव भवन्ति परः॥
अजानन्नपि मार्गार्थं,चेतः कम्पितमानसम्।
स्वकर्मणि प्रवर्तामः,न ज्ञातं भाग्यलिखितं समम्॥
यदा तत्त्वप्रकाशोऽन्तः,शङ्काच्छायाः प्रधूयते।
तदा प्रसादः शान्त्याख्यः,हृदि पूर्णत्वम् उदयते॥
देवदूताः हिते नित्यं,विदन्ति ध्येयसंस्थितिम्।
तेषां कृपा सुहृत्त्वं च,तमोऽपि नाशयति धृतिम्॥
तस्माद् देवेन सह चर,विश्वासं पालय दृढम्।
यः तिष्ठति हरौ नित्यं,स लभेत शाश्वतं सुखम्॥

॥ श्रीहरिनारायण-चतुर्व्यूह-मोक्षप्रद-स्तवनम् ॥
सच्चिदानंदं परब्रह्म, परम् आद्यां शक्तिं परमेश्वरीम्।
जगन्नाथं बलभद्रं च, प्रद्युम्नं चानिरुद्धकम्॥
चतुर्व्यूहरूपिणं देवं, नमामि परब्रह्म परम्।
नमामि तव पादपङ्कजं, शरण्यं भक्तवत्सलम्॥
भवबन्धविनाशनाय, भक्तानां परमं सुखम्।
नामस्मरणमात्रेण, दातुं शक्तो जनार्दनः॥
निर्मलसङ्काशं तेजस्वि, लोकातीतं निरञ्जनम्।
योगिध्येयं अनावृतं, स्वयंप्रभं सनातनम्॥
न मेऽस्ति शरणं नाथ, त्वदन्यः परमेश्वरः।
त्वत्पादाम्बुजं ध्यायन्, प्रविश्येन्मोक्षद्वारम्॥
यं पठेन्मनुजो भक्त्या, चतुर्व्यूहं मनोहरम्।
विमुक्तिः स्याद्भवाब्धेः, स विष्णुलोके निवत्स्यति॥

प्रद्युम्नं कामरूपं तं, ध्यानयुक्तं सदा स्मृतम्।
धर्मार्थकाममोक्षप्रदं, वन्दे नारायणात्मजम्॥ ३ ॥
अनिरुद्धं महाप्राज्ञं, जगत्सृष्टिस्थितिलयम्।
भक्तकल्पद्रुमं नित्यं, वन्दे भक्तवत्सलम्॥ ४ ॥
चतुर्व्यूहस्वरूपं तं, जगज्जीवनहेतवे।
सदैव हृदि सन्निविष्टं, वन्दे सर्वेश्वरं हरिं परमम्॥ ५ ॥
मोक्षं मे देहि गोविन्द, संसारार्णवतारक।
भवद्भक्त्याऽधृढीकृत्य, नित्यं स्थापय मे पदे॥ ६ ॥

तस्मै दातव्यमाशीर्वादं हृदयेन विशुद्धया ॥
यस्य शक्तिर्वर्तते तु आशीर्वादप्रदायने ।
स प्रयत्नेन दद्यात् तत् धर्ममार्गानुसारतः ॥
यदि शक्तिविहीनोऽपि दातुं न शक्नुयाद् जनः ।
तदा तत्प्रणतिं देवे समर्प्य प्रणतो भवेत् ॥
तस्य क्षेमं च कल्याणं प्रार्थयेत् श्रीहरिं प्रति ।
एष धर्मः सनातनः शाश्वतो नियमो ध्रुवः ॥
